The rate plan you selected is shown at checkout and restated in your booking confirmation. What was shown to you at checkout and in your confirmation always prevails over this page.
The price shown at checkout is the total price of your stay: it includes VAT and all mandatory charges, including the cleaning fee and, where applicable, the tourist fee.
1. Direct bookings on friday.mu
1.1 Your rate plan governs
Every direct booking is made on one of two rate plans: the Standard Rate or, where we offer it for your dates, the Deposit Rate. The plan you selected — including its price, payment schedule and cancellation terms — is displayed at checkout before you pay and restated in your booking confirmation email. If there is any difference between this page and what was displayed at checkout or in your confirmation, the checkout and confirmation terms prevail for that booking.
1.2 Standard Rate
- Free cancellation until 30 days before check-in. Cancel on or before the cut-off (see section 1.5) and we refund everything you paid, in full.
- Within 30 days of check-in: we retain 50% of the Accommodation Fare as a cancellation charge and refund everything else you paid.
- No-show: if you do not arrive and have not cancelled, we treat it as a cancellation received on your check-in date — the within-30-days rule above applies.
1.3 Deposit Rate (where offered)
- At booking you pay a deposit of 50% of the Accommodation Fare. This deposit is non-refundable in all cancellation scenarios, however far in advance you cancel.
- The balance — the remaining 50% of the Accommodation Fare plus the cleaning fee, the tourist fee where itemised separately, and any other itemised charges — is due 14 days before check-in. We will send a payment reminder before the due date.
- If you cancel 30 days or more before check-in: the deposit is forfeited; nothing further is payable, and any other amount you have already paid is refunded.
- If you cancel less than 30 days before check-in: the deposit is forfeited and, if you have already paid the balance, the balance is refunded in full — the total we retain under the Deposit Rate never exceeds the deposit, mirroring the Standard Rate's 50% cancellation charge.
- If the balance is not paid by its due date and remains unpaid three (3) days after our reminder, we may cancel the booking; the deposit is forfeited and nothing further is payable.
1.4 What cancellation charges apply to — and what is always refunded
- "Accommodation Fare" means the nightly rates for your stay multiplied by the number of nights, less any discounts — as itemised at checkout and in your confirmation.
- Cancellation charges and the Deposit Rate deposit are calculated on the Accommodation Fare only.
- Charges tied to an actual stay are always refunded in full on cancellation, whatever your rate plan: the cleaning fee and the tourist fee (EUR 3 per tourist aged 12 or over per night, remitted to the Mauritius Revenue Authority — see section 14 of the Guest Terms for the fee and its exemptions) — whether the tourist fee is itemised separately or included within the nightly rate. Where the tourist fee is included within the nightly rate, the amount corresponding to it is excluded from the Accommodation Fare base on which cancellation charges and the Deposit Rate deposit are calculated, and is refunded in full. The tourist fee is only ever due for nights actually stayed.
1.5 How the cut-offs are counted
- Deadlines run on Mauritius time (GMT+4) and are counted in calendar days before your check-in date.
- To cancel free of charge under the Standard Rate, your cancellation must reach us by 23:59 Mauritius time on the day falling 30 days before your check-in date. Example: for check-in on 31 March, free cancellation ends at 23:59 on 1 March.
2. How to cancel
- Email us at info@friday.mu from the email address used to book, quoting your booking reference; or
- use the manage-booking link in your confirmation email.
Your cancellation takes effect on the date we receive it (Mauritius time) — not the date we reply. We will confirm every cancellation in writing; if you have not received our written confirmation within 24 hours, contact us again — your cancellation is not lost, but the confirmation is your record.
3. Refunds
- Refunds are made to the original payment method only. We do not refund in cash or to third-party accounts.
- We initiate refunds within 7 business days of confirming your cancellation. Card refunds typically appear on your statement 5 to 10 business days after that, depending on your card issuer.
- Currency: refunds are issued in the currency you were charged in (normally EUR) for the amount charged. If your card account runs in another currency, your card issuer converts at its own rate on the day of the refund — that rate may differ from the rate applied when you paid, and issuer conversion fees may apply. Friday is not responsible for card-issuer exchange-rate differences or fees.
4. Changes and rebooking
- Date changes can be requested by email and are subject to availability and to the rates applicable to the new dates. If the new dates are priced higher, the difference is payable; if lower, we refund or credit the difference.
- A confirmed date change does not restart your cancellation rights: if your booking was already within 30 days of the original check-in date when you requested the change, the within-30-days cancellation charge continues to apply to any later cancellation.
- Credit: we may, at our discretion, offer a credit toward a future stay as an alternative to any refund or as a goodwill gesture. You are never obliged to accept a credit in place of a refund this policy entitles you to. Where you accept a credit, its value, validity period and conditions are confirmed to you in writing at the time.
5. Bookings made through Airbnb, Booking.com or another platform
If you booked through a third-party platform, that platform's cancellation policy — as shown on the listing when you booked — applies to your booking, not this page.
- Cancel through the platform, using its cancellation flow.
- Refunds are calculated and processed by the platform under its policy and timelines.
- We cannot override, extend or improve a platform's cancellation policy on the platform's behalf.
6. Experiences and transfers
Experiences (activities, excursions) and airport or island transfers are separate bookings with independent operators, made through the operator's booking system. Your contract — including cancellation, refund and no-show terms — is with the operator, and your payment goes to the operator, not to Friday.
- To cancel, follow the operator's process shown in the operator's booking confirmation.
- If you ask us to, we will relay your cancellation request to the operator — but the operator's own policy and decision govern, and we cannot grant refunds on an operator's behalf.
- Cancelling your stay does not automatically cancel experiences or transfers, and vice versa.
7. Cyclones, travel bans and force majeure
Mauritius is in a cyclone region; cyclone season runs roughly November to April. If either of the following prevents your stay:
- an official cyclone warning of Class III or higher issued by the Mauritius Meteorological Services covering your stay dates; or
- an official government travel ban (in Mauritius or your country of departure) that legally prevents you from travelling to, entering, or staying in Mauritius on your stay dates,
then, for direct bookings, you may choose between a date change (subject to availability), a credit, or a full refund of all amounts paid. For platform bookings, the platform's extenuating-circumstances or force-majeure policy applies.
Events that do not prevent the stay — ordinary bad weather, a cyclone warning below Class III, airline schedule changes or cancellations that do not amount to a travel ban, or personal circumstances — are handled under your normal rate plan above. We strongly recommend travel insurance covering cancellation, curtailment and travel disruption.
8. If we cancel
Occasionally we may have to cancel a confirmed direct booking for reasons other than your breach of the Friday Guest Terms or a force-majeure event under section 7 — for example, where a property is withdrawn from our programme or a safety issue makes it unavailable. If that happens, you choose between: comparable alternative accommodation from our portfolio for the same dates at no extra cost to you, a full refund of all amounts paid, or a credit toward a future stay. We will notify you as soon as reasonably possible and provide reasonable assistance in rearranging your stay. For platform bookings, the platform's host-cancellation process applies.
9. General
- Versioning: the version of this policy in force on the date you book applies to that booking. Each version is dated and archived; the current version is always at the canonical URL above.
- Your statutory rights: nothing in this policy limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence that cannot be excluded by agreement.
- Guest Terms: this page is the cancellation policy referred to in section 5 of the Friday Guest Terms and forms part of them for direct bookings.
- Languages: this policy is published in English and in French. The English version is the operative version and prevails in case of any inconsistency; the French version is provided as a courtesy translation.
