GUEST TERMS & WEBSITE TERMS

Terms for travellers, website visitors, and anyone making an inquiry or direct booking with Friday Retreats Ltd.

Version 2026-08 Effective date: 8 August 2026 Canonical URL: friday.mu/terms/guests/2026-08 Supersedes: Guest Terms & Website Terms v1 (21 May 2026) Languages: English (operative) · French (courtesy translation) — see Section 16

These terms apply to your use of friday.mu, your stay or experience inquiries, direct bookings confirmed by Friday Retreats Ltd, and any stay link or guest portal we make available to you. They sit alongside our Privacy Policy and our Cancellation Policy. By using the site, submitting a booking request, or completing a booking at checkout, you accept these terms.

If you are a property owner or property-management client, the Owner Terms also apply to your relationship with Friday.

1. Who we are

The site is operated by Friday Retreats Ltd, a Mauritian company registered under BRN C24206082. On the website, we also use the friday.mu brand.

We provide booking, short-stay accommodation, experience, and guest-support services in Mauritius, directly or together with property owners, partners, operators, and third-party booking platforms.

2. Website use

You must use the site lawfully, honestly, and reasonably. You must not try to bypass security, disrupt the service, scrape content at scale, impersonate another person, or use the site for fraudulent activity.

The site content presents our residences, experiences, and services. We make reasonable efforts to keep it current, but availability, prices, descriptions, amenities, and conditions can change.

3. Prices, availability, and booking requests

Prices and availability shown while you browse the site — before you request a quote or reach checkout — are indicative and can change until your booking is confirmed.

The price displayed at checkout, and the price stated in your booking confirmation, is the total price of your stay. It includes VAT and all mandatory charges — including the cleaning fee and, where applicable, the Mauritius Tourist Fee described in Section 14. It does not include genuinely optional extras that you have not selected, such as experiences, transfers, or optional services.

Rates can vary by date, length of stay, occupancy, currency, promotions, and residence conditions. The final price is the one confirmed in your booking confirmation.

A stay is confirmed only when Friday explicitly confirms the reservation, price, dates, and applicable conditions, and any payment required at booking — together with any required payment authentication — has completed.

4. Payments and proof of payment

Depending on the booking, payment may be made by bank transfer, payment link, payment processor, booking platform, or another method accepted by Friday.

Card payments may be subject to authentication by your card issuer (for example, 3-D Secure verification). A booking is confirmed only when payment — and any authentication your card issuer requires — has completed.

If you upload or send a proof of payment, you confirm that it is accurate and that you are authorised to make the payment. We may verify payment before confirming or maintaining a reservation.

We do not store full payment card details on our own systems. Payment processors may apply their own terms.

If a charge is disputed with a card issuer, we will contest unjustified chargebacks using booking evidence — including your acceptance of these terms, booking and payment records, our communications with you, and check-in records.

5. Cancellations, changes, and refunds

For direct bookings confirmed by Friday, our default cancellation policy is:

  • Free cancellation until 30 days before your check-in date. Everything you have paid is refunded, except any non-refundable deposit under a deposit rate plan (below).
  • Cancellation within 30 days of check-in. Fifty percent (50%) of the accommodation fare — your nightly rates multiplied by the number of nights, less any discounts, as itemised at checkout — is forfeited; everything else you have paid is refunded. Charges tied to an actual stay — the cleaning fee and the Tourist Fee described in Section 14 — are always refunded in full; where the Tourist Fee is included within the nightly rate, the amount corresponding to it is excluded from the accommodation fare for this calculation and refunded in full.
  • Deposit rate plans. Some rates are offered with a deposit of 50% of the accommodation fare. The deposit is non-refundable in any cancellation scenario. The remaining balance is due 14 days before check-in and is refunded if you cancel.

This default policy applies unless your confirmed rate plan states otherwise — the cancellation policy shown at checkout and in your booking confirmation prevails. Full details, including worked examples, are on our Cancellation Policy page, which is linked from checkout and from your confirmation email.

Cyclones, travel bans, and force majeure. Mauritius is in a cyclone region. If either of the following prevents your stay — an official cyclone warning of Class III or higher issued by the Mauritius Meteorological Services covering your stay dates, or an official government travel ban (in Mauritius or in your country of departure) that legally prevents you from travelling to, entering, or staying in Mauritius on your stay dates — then, for direct bookings, you may choose between a date change (subject to availability), a credit, or a full refund of all amounts paid. For bookings made through a third-party platform, that platform's extenuating-circumstances or force-majeure policy applies. Events that do not prevent the stay — ordinary bad weather, a cyclone warning below Class III, airline schedule changes or cancellations that do not amount to a travel ban, or personal circumstances — are handled under your rate plan above. We strongly recommend travel insurance covering cancellation, curtailment, and travel disruption.

If you booked through a third-party platform such as Airbnb, Booking.com, or Vrbo, that platform's cancellation policy applies to your booking, as shown on the platform.

Refunds are made using the original payment method where possible. We may decline a change to your booking where it is not operationally possible, where the residence is no longer available, or where the booking terms do not allow it.

6. Guest responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and current information, including name, contact details, number of guests, arrival and departure times, and special requests.
  • Respect occupancy limits, residence rules, safety instructions, neighbour rules, and restrictions on parties, noise, smoking, and pets.
  • Complete check-in forms or provide reasonably required documents when required by law, security, the booking channel, or stay operations — including the information needed to apply Tourist Fee exemptions under Section 14.
  • Report damage, incidents, safety issues, or material defects promptly.
  • Pay fees, damages, losses, penalties, or additional costs for which you are responsible, including under Section 15 (damage).

7. Experiences and partners

Experiences, activities, chefs, excursions, transport, and other add-on services offered on or via friday.mu are provided by independent third-party operators. Your contract for an experience is with the operator, and the operator is responsible for the performance and safety of its service.

Payment for experiences is processed by our booking partner Bokun or by the operator directly — not by Friday. Friday acts as a disclosed intermediary and earns a commission from the operator.

Operator-specific terms, age limits, health requirements, weather rules, cancellation policies, or safety rules may apply.

Experiences and transfers are booked separately from your stay; separate bookings do not create a travel package and package-travel rights do not apply.

For the avoidance of doubt: for direct stay bookings confirmed by Friday, Friday Retreats Ltd is responsible to you as the provider of your accommodation.

8. Stay links, guest portals, and access information

When we provide a stay link, magic link, or guest portal, it may contain sensitive information: address, Google Maps link, check-in instructions, access codes, lockbox information, check-in forms, recommendations, reservation details, and support messages.

You must keep this link confidential and share it only with authorised members of your travelling party. We may limit, expire, replace, or revoke a link for security, fraud, error-correction, or end-of-stay reasons.

9. Personal data, cookies, and marketing

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share personal data, including booking, payment, browsing, analytics, marketing, check-in, and support data.

Some cookies or similar technologies are necessary for the site to work. Analytics or marketing cookies, including advertising pixels when configured, depend on your consent settings where legally required.

10. Service availability

We make reasonable efforts to keep the site, forms, booking links, and guest portals available. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.

Third-party services — such as booking platforms, payment tools, email providers, maps, analytics, our management systems, and suppliers such as Guesty and Bokun — may be required for the service to work.

11. Intellectual property

Site text, images, marks, interfaces, designs, listings, recommendations, and other content belong to Friday or our licensors. You may view them to plan your stay, but you may not copy, reuse, republish, or exploit them commercially without our written permission.

12. Liability

To the extent allowed by law, Friday is not liable for indirect losses, loss of profit, loss of data, interruptions, or damage that does not result directly from Friday's fault.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

Nothing in these terms excludes any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

13. Governing law, complaints, and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Mauritius. This does not deprive you of protections that cannot be derogated from by agreement under the law of your country of residence, where they apply to you by law.

Complaints. If something goes wrong, write to Friday Retreats Ltd at info@friday.mu — this inbox is monitored by our guest-support team and every complaint is assigned to a named handler. We will acknowledge your complaint within 48 hours and give you a substantive response within 14 days.

For any other questions, contact Friday Retreats Ltd at info@friday.mu.

14. Tourist Fee and taxes

Mauritius applies a Tourist Fee of EUR 3 per guest aged 12 or over, per night, on tourist accommodation, under the Tourism Authority Act. Friday collects this fee and remits it to the Mauritius Revenue Authority.

For direct bookings, the Tourist Fee is included in the total price shown at checkout; it may appear as a separate line or be included within the nightly rate. For bookings through a third-party platform, the fee is either included in your rate, collected through the platform's checkout where the platform supports it, or collected by Friday before or at check-in, as communicated to you.

The Tourist Fee does not apply to guests under 12 years of age. This is the exemption set out in the legislation.

Published Mauritius Revenue Authority guidance also treats the following as outside the fee:

  • Mauritian residents;
  • holders of a Premium Visa or of a Mauritian residence permit;
  • Mauritians living abroad who travel on a Mauritian passport; and
  • stays provided free of charge.

If an exemption applies to anyone in your party, provide supporting evidence at or before check-in and we will adjust the price: the corresponding fee amount will be deducted from the amount due or refunded.

All prices on the site include Mauritian VAT (currently 15%) where applicable. If mandatory taxes or government charges change after your booking is confirmed and the change applies to your stay by law, the amount payable will be adjusted accordingly; we will inform you before check-in.

15. Damage

You are responsible for damage to the property, its contents, or items we supply — beyond normal wear and tear — caused during your stay by you or any member of your party, or by visitors you allow onto the property.

For direct bookings, we may invoice you for the documented cost of repair or replacement. Any such invoice will be supported by evidence, such as photographs, quotes, or repair or replacement invoices, and is payable within 14 days.

For bookings made through a third-party platform, recovery for damage follows that platform's process (for example, Airbnb's AirCover for Hosts) and the platform's terms.

Report any damage or breakage promptly — early reporting almost always makes things simpler to resolve.

16. Language and versions

These terms are published in English and in French. The English version is the operative version and prevails in case of any inconsistency; the French version is provided as a courtesy translation.

Each version of these terms is dated and published at its own permanent address. The version in force on the date you book applies to your booking.
